Replacing Propane Regulator (again) by Trent at Bogus Basin Bike park

When I was in Boise, ID, I filled up the propane to full tank and have the outside propane switch turn off… The. After that I climbed up to the top of Bogus Basin.

After we found a place to camp, I turned on the switch. Then I can hear a lound hissing sound coming out from the bottom of the van with a lot of propane smell.

Then whenever I turned on the switch, I can hear the hissing sound and propane is leaking.

Trent identified that the leaking is coming from the regulator. That made me think that the guy that replaced this for me last time in Fruita CO probably didn’t use the right regulator for my van.

Therefore, I made sure to order the right one this time. It is a Marshall Excelsior MEGR-295P Reg 2-Stage Horz W/Pol Pkg

Trent helped me replace it with the old one today and it fixed the issue.

How to turn off the propane in the future of leaking

The most safe way to do it is to turn off the knob at the propane tank clockwise directly
