I drove from Joshua Tree to here this morning. It took around 3 hrs to get here When I started to drive into Bakersfield, I started to see a lot of smoke in the sky. I was not sure if there were still wild fires going on around the area.

I stopped by at Planet Fitness in Bakersfield to take a shower before coming to this campground.

I was thinking to do laundry in the area too… but I didn’t feel too safe in this part of the city so I skipped it.

When I got to the campground, I checked the air quality of this town and this is what I found.

From IQairag.com, here is the reason behind the poor air quality in this area:

Bakersfield’s high air pollution levels owe to the area’s high-emission industries (such as agriculture and fossil-fuel based energy production), growing residential emissions, and its geographic and climatic conditions, which cause polluted air to become trapped in the valley.3 All three play near equal parts in creating Bakersfield’s dirty air..

However, the quality of the air is supposed to get better and clear up starting from tomorrow.

The campground here stays pretty busy. It is pretty and will be much prettier on a clear day. I felt a bit headache after I got here. So I’m thinking of taking it easy.

There are showers in the campground. I went to check the rest rooms and found that it is not as clean as I hope. Probably, it is because we have a lot of people and kids camping here.

The campground host (Rob) is really nice and welcoming.
