Be yourself

Many times I heard people advise the other… “Just be yourself.”

After diving more deeply inward, that advice seems to be pretty pointless to me. If one doesn’t know oneself…. How can him or her act like him or herself?

Knowing oneself needs to come first before we can really be ourselves.

Who am I? I had questioned myself a lot in recent months or actually this past year. I have learned that many times I can’t even trust my own mind… Or even want to continue listening to my own thoughts because it just made me more confused and, many times, feel worse. And I knew that many times I don’t even like my own thoughts.

Now that I know… There is a deeper layer of me beneath all the superficial layers (thoughts, feeling, emotions). That deeper me is stable… No varies… And peaceful.

Now, ‘be yourself’ for me becomes a very good advice. Because that is my true self… What I choose to do from deeply inside of me is not attached to my own ego or any other attachments… It is just me. Just be no one, be me, and be joyful.
